Windows 7 RC cannot join Win2K3 Domain
I installed a Duel Boot Windows 7 and Windows XP on a small domain connected WIndows XP box. Windows 7 installed with no errors. Tried to join the domain, prompted for the admin name, password and domain name, received an error that the domain controller for the domain could not be contacted. The Domain Controller is running Server 2003 Enterprise SP1, DNS, DHCP and WINS. The server and workstation are on the same subnet and can be pinged and the name resolved. DHCP is configured to assigned TCP/IP 4 IP addressing, DNS points to only one IP address and WINS is configured. Windows 7 workstation is getting correct IP information from the DHCP server. All other workstations are Windows XP and Server 2003 Enterprise have no issues with authentication.I tried to add the Windows 7 Workstation to the domain through the GUI with and without a computer account created in AD and continue to receive the error message that the domain controller cannot be found.I have seen similiar issues posted and have verified that the DNS server is configured correctly.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 usually by default puts the initial connection detection in HomeGroup, regardless of what workgroup your system happens to be in.Check to see if your Windows 7 system is still in the HomeGroup. If it is, take it out.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansign Speakers...

Almost forgot. If you have a 3rd party Firewall installed check to see if it includes the other system's IP address in the Trusted Zone. You may need to include either individual IP addresses or a range of IP addresses.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansign Speakers...
