Windows 7 RC User Permissions messed up
When starting my desktop the wireless network doesn't connect regularly. The first couple times it was fine. Now it seems to have a problem related to the background scheme. I change or modify the scheme and then the network connects. Until then it doesn't recognize the router. I never had this problem before I installed Widows 7 R.C. I did the trouble shoot network thing and got nothing. I tried restarting and still have the same problem. I made sure the hardware was working in the system and was plugged in properly. The only thing that has worked for me is to change or modify the background scheme. How do I fix this problem? Also my user account was changed to have no access to change the C drive, like pasting files in folders. I am supposed to be the admin account. I enjoy the speed of the operating system, it responds quickly. So far, it is easy to find things and I like the desktop layout. Backward compatibility is a very important feature and so far it works fairly well. I do have one program that brings up a problem file each time I start the computer. And my MS Office keeps trying to update and doesn't get what is being looked for, it keeps doing a complete update and then is still missing something each time I use it. The on board network adapter is disabled. It is a pci card. I can't access the system device list to double check anything. I am sure the issue resides in the windows 7 system. I have no user rights even though I am the administrator. I can 't change any settings or even fix problem files. I can't run programs from CD even. I tried to reinstall, but the drivers were changed and said to be missing for my CD drive. I tried to restore the PC to previous OS and there is no option to do so. I tried to repair it and had trouble with the CD drivers. I am now thinking that I have to do a total reinstall of Vista, at least it worked well enough to keep internet and file changes going. Windows 7 won't even let me go into system restore, It seems that I have no access to anything to help fix the problems.

When you mention wireless network, is that a pci card or sort of usb adapter? Just a thought, you're connecting your desktop to the net with wireless? If that the case, i suggest you to disable any secure network if you have or anyone haveenable it earlier on as in wep or wpa. Once you have input the passphrase and ssid onto the desktop wireless connection as well as the router config page (both must have the same passphrase and ssid) nextverify whether your wireless connection is detected, if is detected than enable back the wep or wpa

Also my user account was changed to have no access to change the C drive, like pasting files in folders. I am supposed to be the admin account. Did you change your account yourself to deny access to the root of the C:\ drive, or all of the sudden one day you couldn't put files in the root of the drive? I can't access the system device list (Device Manager) to double check anything. I am sure the issue resides in the windows 7 system. I have no user rights even though I am the administrator. Admin accounts don't have full reign over the system anymore like they did in XP, and UAC is the only way to elevate your account to do these advanced system changes.Hello! I did have UAC turned off when using vista. I turned it on for Win7. I still can't do anything. I did not change the account in any way, especially to deny access. I tried to Change permissions for C earlier yesterday, but have no access to do so. How do I access the UAC change settings when I am denied? I click on change settings, the window "flashes" and then nothing happens. C: is not accessible. When I try to use the CD .exe files to fix programs/files that got messed up while upgrading to win7 I get " D:\ Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I need to get the permissions set correctly so I can fix problems. How would I log into the administrator account in win7? (Again, I am the administrator account) If I am supposed to get elevated rights through the UAC how do I do so when I can't access it? Thanks so much for your reply!

Thanks so much for your reply! Did you upgrade from Vista to win7 or did you clean-install? Have you virus-scanned in a while? Viruses do crazy things... (use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, at malwarebytes.org ) To change the UAC to on, go to Control Panel, User accounts (in icon view), click on Change UAC settings. Try setting the slider all the way to the top. You should get a UAC prompt, prompting you about the new UAC settings change and if you want to allow it. As far as not being able to access the UAC stuff, you may have a bug with your computer and install, especially if you upgraded from Vista with UAC turned off and then in win7 turned it back on.Hello! I upgraded from Vista Ultimate 64 to Windows 7 RC 64 with the UAC turned off. My bad. I did not find anything about UAC in the FAQ's or forums therefore I didn't think to change it. I will have to do a clean install and hope that things work better. I never did find a way around the permissions and couldn't get into the UAC change settings to fix that either. Thank you for your time, you are awesome!

Yeah, this was the 1st I have seen any UAC problems when upgrading from Vista... Definitely do the clean-install of win7. Just boot off of the install disc, and away ya go! Once you get your clean-install working right with UAC and everything else, please mark any post that helped as an answer or vote as helpful.Hello!
