Windows 7 RC Unable to complete Logon
Running Windows 7 RC 64 bit with Trend Anti Virus and Office 2007 Pro SP2 (personal PC - no network)When trying to logon today,I received the message: The user profile service failed the logon, User profile can not be loaded. Rebooted several times - no success Started system in safe mode and run System RestoreAble to logon now.Could not find a fix or anyinfo related to this issue.Thx.*** update 5/13/09Created 2nd logon profile on 5/12, in case this would happen again. Had logon issues again on 5/13 with message: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile "Desktop is not accessible - Access denied"Was able to access desktop with logon profile I created on 5/12 but not able logon using my original profile.Ended up having to do 2 system restore (first one failed and I used the Windows 7 DVD for the 2nd) in order to get my system backup.I am now able to complete the logon usingmy original profile. My questions are, why wouldone user profile become unaccessable but the 2nd one I created allows me to access the desktop.Couldthis issue be causedby Trend Anti Virus rather than being Windows related?*** update 5/14/09Same issue today....Had logon issues againwith message: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile "Desktop is not accessible - Access denied"Was able to reestablish access after 3 x reboot*** update 5/1509reinstalled OS - no issues since.....

Olli - There have been a few instances where people have had similar, if not identical issues. System Restore would have likely been the first thing anyone would have suggested you try anyhow.

To whom it may concern,When logging onto Windows 7 RC the following error message is displayed, account does not log on any further, states it is logging off, and returns to authentication screen (ctrl alt del logon screen)."the user profile service failed the logon" "User profile can not be loaded"Solution:We were using Group Policy. On the Scope TAB, under Security Filtering section where users, groups, computer accounts are listed. We originally had only "authenticated users", however for our uniquetesting purposes we removed "authenticated users" and added only one user "Bob Smith".When we tried to logon to the "Bob Smith" account, the error message "the user profile service failed the logon" "User profile can not be loaded" was shown and logon did not occur. We found that when the only listing under Security Filteringis the user "Bob Smith" thatthe error message was shown, and logon failed. If there is a combination of user "Bob Smith" and machine "Computer Terminal We Are Trying To Test And Logon To", logon will be successful. If there is a combination of user "Bob Smith" and group "Authenticated Users", logon will be successful.Note:This help may not be very useful for individuals on stand alone machines, due to group policy. It only takes ONE group policy being set up in this manner (our unique testing scenario)to cause this issue.Hope this helps someone, or provokes more thought. As the help regarding this error message is not applicable to our unique testing scenario, or related to Windows Vista.

I've run into this issue as well.. I have a standalone machine with three users on it. One user myself has a password associated with it the others do not and are regular user I am an administrator user.I go the user profile service failed the logon, user profile can not be loaded. A few times I rebooted and a basic desktop appeared rebooted again and sometimes it would come back to normal. Then it got to the point where it wouldn't login under my profile at all no matter how many times I rebooted. The other users had similar issues but on reboot have so far been able to get back in. I ended up creating a new user and deleted the old profile. It worked for a couple of days but I am on occassion booting into a basic user profile with the error again..

I had that problem, it's a registry setting that's fubar'd. I don't recall the fix exactly, but google the error message and you should track it down. You have to edit the registry to fix it.
