Windows 7 RC Network Discovery reverts off automatically...
Hey guys, I am running Windows 7 RC on one of my desktops connected to a wireless network containing a couple of XP machines and a couple of Vista machines. The XP and Vista units can see each and access each others shared folders and media without an issue. My Windows 7 unit appears in the network window on the other machines but attemptiong to access it returns the message: "Windows cannot access \\(computer name)" All computers have the same workgroup name. Opening the Network window on the Windows 7 machine, I can see the two Vista laptops but the same error message is given when trying to access them. I know this is a common problem and there are many threads relating to it, however the solution posted for most is to make sure Network Discovery is turned on. I have the network type set as Home in Windows 7 and I am able to go to advanced sharing settings and turn Network Discovery on, however it automatically turns itself off again as soon as I close the window! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - EDIT: Woah it just became even more unusual! I just realised that I can actually access the shared media library of my Vista laptop via Media Player on the Windows 7 machine, while still not being able to access the Vista laptop any other way...
