Windows 7 RC1 wakes up from sleep mode without me activating it.
I Have a M3N-HD/HDMI motherboard with a 1 GB SVGA video card. The computer goes into sleep mode per the power settings, but then wakes up itself and turns on the monitor. Is this a motherboard or video card compatability issue or is it a computer setting that I'm not aware of my Bios is set to S1/S3.Ron Lingleemail: lingle386@hotmail.com

Check System event log in Event Viewer. Find the event from Power-Troubleshooter, there will be a wakeup source.

It's probably your network card. Go the hardware device manager, right-click the network card and select Properties. On the last tab, deselect the option that allows the card to wake up your pc.

Please, do yourself a favor and turn off sleep mode in the power settings. There are too many issues with this feature until a bugfix is released. This seems to be a native RC problem.Mob. AMD64 3000+, 1 G RAM, Mob. ATIRadeon9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)

Sleep mode works perfectly for me.Hibernation has an issue, but seems to be driver related.

Here is what I have learned: I can prevent the wake-up from happening by doing the following:Do NOT select the "sleep" option. Instead, select the "switch" option even if you don't have another user configured. This will take you back to the login. Then, from the power-down button on the login screenselect the "sleep" option. That is what I do and it has been working for me. This is not a solution but a workaround. I'm sure it will be fixed in the final release assuming that someone at MS is monitoring this stuff.

Hi RonIt's never a good idea to post your email address in a public forum. This will likely get you a ton of spam and other unwanted traffic to that account.Regards, Ronnie Vernon MVPForum Moderator

my desktop computer is randomly waking up on its own. This is ridiculous. Luckily I have a macbook and not running windows 7 on a laptop. Imagine your computer waking up in a closed case! Microsoft, your software is absolutely terrible, quality control went downhill on about windows 98 and has gone down ever since.
