Windows 7 RC1 freeze
HiI dont know where to ask. I installed Windows 7 RC1 and it always freezes. Log says that "FileRepository\volsnap.inf_amd64... exited with Stat 0x0". Then the HardDiscs LED blinks and there sheems that there is no access to HD any more. After 3-5 Minutes it works again for some time. Vista SP1 works without any problem.Whats wrong?Thxregards

I had a similar problem with my RAID array. Are you using RAID?Long story, but the first reboot after starting the installation resulted in a chkdsk loop with files of similar names being listed. The errors were all on the new partition that I was installing the RC on.I attempted to boot to my other partition (the one with the Win7 Beta) and it wouldn't go (stuck in the chkdsk loop at startup)I broke into the loop to run Startup Repair (this is a dual boot system) and ran it on the new installation. It appeared to correct things.Just in case, I also ran Startup Repair on the Win7 Beta partition, then rebooted into the Win7 Beta installation.Backed up my files (phew! :0) and then booted to the Win7 RC installation without any issues (it resumed at setting up my desktop).- John

Hi JohnNo - its a notebook (Lenovo ThinkPad X61s 7669 27G) with SATA. I also had some install problems (after adding user and network config i saw "Welcome" and nothing happens - laptop did nothing for half an hour. After hard reboot and adding new user it works "Welcome" "Preparing Desktop" and so on).I disabled shadow copies and still get that problems (also during writing this post *g*). The hard disc LED is on but i cant hear thehard discworking and it sheems that Windows cant read from the disc - all is hanging for some minutes. But in Vista i never have this problem (same machine) ...michael

Read some newer posts. There sheem to be some driver problems. W7 detected all HW and installed all drivers. I replaced Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller with a newer driverhttp://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67738Yesterday (worked whole day with Matlab on the machine) and today - never had this problem again.Regards michaelPS: That first post was not correct: the stuff with volsnap and shadow copys cant cause that imo - my fault
