Windows 7 RC1, Feedback missing? How to report problems?
Sorry if Im a bit premature with this, but the RC1 doesn't have the "Send Feedback" available anymore?I did find the Problem Steps Recorder tough - but now Im not sure how to report specific issues. So how can I best report/contribute to solve certain issues?Or do we use connect.microsoft.com for specific issues?REM: On a sidenote - it's about the junction/reparse point existing in the "C:\Windows.old\Users\All Users" etc, seems like there's an existing issue from Vista (according to other TN posters) still alive in Windows 7. Hi Jon, You can pull the Send Feedback by copy and pasting the following to Start's search field: C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe FeedbackTool.dll,ShowWizard Note that you need an account on MS Connect to submit feedback. Hope this helps.Jabez Gan [MVP] - http://www.msblog.org Contributing Author for: (Sybex) MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide: Exam 70-643

Out of curiosity, how do we specify an account? I don't remember doing that with the beta build. Were they somehow automatically associated with our product keys?

According to MSNBC, whatever we see in the RCis pretty much going to be it. Ugg, I was hoping they'd do something with the 'All Programs' list box in the start menu. It's awful to use (and was in Vista too). I despise scrolling through it. I do _really_like the extension menu like exists on the 'Getting Started'. If 'All Programs' extended the start box towards the right in a similiar fashion to the new extension menus(which I supposedis asimiliar display to XP) I'd be much happier and I'd use it much more. That small scroll box gets unruly once you have 50 folders in it. Ah well, you win some features requests, you lose some feature requests. :PTake my complaining with a grain of salt, I mean it as constructive critism. I was happy with Vista and Windows 7, at least from a performance standpoint is shaping up to be far better from what I've seen.

Jabez, I don't think I have a MS Connect account but the feedback tool seemed to take my feedback, and didn't ask for any account or login information. To be specific,Is this the correct way to report bugs and things that are broken. As an example, I have a bug where my website cannot install a digital certificate in IE 8 on Windows 7 (but can on IE 8 on Vista 32 & 64). As another example, when installing the Windows 7 RC on a machine with multiple harddrives, unlike Vista, Windows 7 doesn't add itself to the boot menu. In fact, it turns off the boot menu. As of yet, I'm unsure how I can dual boot back to Vista (which is installed on a different disk). This behavior seems to be a bug (since it's different than before an highly angering/counter-productive).Where should we submit these bugs?Rob

Rob - When you install the Connect feedback tool, it will ask you for your account information. As far as posting your issues - you can post them here. There are some folks from Microsoft who pop in here pretty much every day. If they see something that demands the programmer's attentions, they'll pass the info on to the people in charge. MVPs will also likely pass on info to those people so they know what posts to look at.

I have tried to copy paste the path but I am not able to paste anything any where in Windows 7, do not know why as I have been able to but I can't anymore. Being usingWindows 7at work to see how it runs with the programs we use here and I have being enjoying the experiance since the Beta came out. Now I can not paste it has put a bit of a crimp on things, I will type the path in though but if it was 500 characters long there would probabley be mistakes. Hay Ho

windows 7 RC1lenovo t500major display issues, whenever windows auto updates my display drivers crash, I was able to fix this 2x after 2-3 hour sessions of uninstalling/re-installing video drivers using mobility modder but thats not even working now.Hardware is fine, if I remove ATI Radeon 3650 and intel chipset mobile 4 series express from under display adapters in Device Manager, I can restart windows normally but then the update feature automatically re-inserts the same bad video drivers. If I prevent this from happening I can get 1200x800 resolution but something is wrong with video display. When I hover open programs in the toolbar I don't get the visual window anymore, I just get a textual description and when I try to play a video, its pixelated, choppy and the voice and audio tracks don't work rightI downloaded the windows 7 version of the ATI driver from lenovo website (ATI Display Driver for Windows 7 32bit and 64bit) and the latest version of the Intel mobile chipset for graphics acceleration. When I boot up after the windows flag loads I get a black screen and all I can see is the cursor. This is extremely frusturating if anybody can help I'd appreciate it.
