Got to install Office if you want Outlook. Once you've done that you can add the .pst file to the datasources (options menu). This is valid unless you're talking about Outlook Express, for which you don't need Office. Running Outlook express in Windows 7 wouldn't be perfect, but can be done. Why don't you try Windows Live Mail instead? As far as your documents are concerned, you just add your document directory to the windows 7 document library (in explorer).RegardsRem

No I can't, My mistake. I meant datafile not source. You have your pst file, so in Tools / Options /second tab you just add your pst file to the one already listed.RegardsRem

I suggest you follow the thread below "File Permissions in Windows 7 ______" . I have the same problem and it seems this is a bug/virus/interaction problem. I readthe threadcompletely and followed some of the suggestions to work around. Like you I couldn't get to the 'Documents and Settings' folder to get to outlook.pst. I finally got to it after a few hours of work, but it is still a problem with other folders. Interesting thread and we are all hoping for a fix. I turned off UAC and took ownership of the folder a used a lot of patience.earon

Scott,Sorry 'bout that. There doesn't seem to be any updates, but the workaround is still there. Try this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprosecurity/thread/d14731ec-4f0e-4ef8-9aac-028dd7104e0eBill

dtillng,I am a little bit confused and don't understand your verry question good.So it could be that i give you a wrong answer. So why can't you have any access to C:\Documents and Settings?Well actualy since windows vista C:\documents and settings doesn't exist any more.Microsoft change the location to C:\users\.Now the reason that you still see this documents and settings folder inwindows explorer. Is that microsoft created a "NTFSJunction" to the C:\users directory for application compatiblity.See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930128/en-usfor more information. So where does outlook stores by default my Outlook.PST file?Well this should be in the following location.C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pstInstead ofC:\Documents and Settings\[USER NAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst Does this solves your problem?Kind RegardsDFT IM me
