Windows 7 Program Restrictions
Hello, I work for a public school system and I am needing some help. We have an exchange network set up and we use Windows Server 2003. Up until now we have only used Windows XP and previously Windows 2000 on the domain. Everythng has worked great until now. We have some netbooks for incoming freshmen that are running Windows 7 professional and thats where the problems begin. It joins the domain fine, but after I load programs (Adobe Reader, etc) it won't let student users open them. It says "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" It works on XP and in 2000 - what's up with Windows 7? What do I need to change? I have even given permissions to programs via security groups. Any ideas? Please help!!!

Hi, Does the error message only occur when opening Adobe Reader? Or it also occurs when accessing other program? This issue can occur by incorrect program settings or GPO settings. To troubleshoot the issue, I suggest you temporarily disable Group Policy on the problematic machine and user account for a test. If the error does not occur, it can occur by incorrect GPO settings. Otherwise, I suggest you uninstall Adobe Reader and reinstall the latest version for a test. Meanwhile, I would like to share you the following article to troubleshoot this kind of issue. "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer." Thanks, Novak
