Windows 7 Professional will not access the internet
This is a BRAND NEW PC and Fresh install of Windows 7 Pro, NO UPGRADE.
The motherboard is an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe with an INTEL 2600K CPU with 8 GBs of RAM. IPCONFIG /realease, /renew sometimes works after 5 or 6 times, but 99% of the time even after a reboot under Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network Sharing, each
and every time all I see is the 2600K computer with a line going to a little house labeled Network 2, then continues on to the Internet with a BIG RED X on that line. I can see and access my NAS boxes and server, but cannot access the internet.
I have 3 other PC's, 2 running Vista and one running XP all have no trouble accessing the internet, in fact the XP machine is plugged into the same switch as the 2600K machine. I am typing this message on the XP machine as WINDOWS 7 will not access the
net!! Anyone have any idea, Please help, I have installed another network card into the 2600K and that has the same problem, I have moved the PC to another location with the same issue. All I can see is the home groups and I am 99% sure it has
something to do with Windows 7. Anyway, please if you can help, it would be much appreciated.

Can you please post an IPCONFIG /ALL from your Win7 machine and from the XP machine so that we can get some idea of your network setup. I would be looking to check that you have the DNS servers and default gateways set the same on both. Is the
Win7 machine getting it's IP settings via DHCP from your router or is it static? Also please check that you have no missing drivers or disabled hardware in device manager.Alan Moseley

I'm afraid that I needed the IP address and gateways to be able to see how it was setup. Sorry. If these are public IPs then I understand why you have not posted them, but if they are private IPs (such as 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) then you are
perfectly safe to post them as they are not routable over the internet.Alan Moseley
