Windows 7 Professional encryption
Hello, I have Windows 7 Professional. I want to use encryption. I read in the help file that it is only available with Enterprise and Ultimate editions. However, in my Professional Edition, it let me create a certificate, and encrypt a folder. Is there something else that the Enterprise and Ultimate editions offer? TIA

Yes, that is called BitLocker , and if you scroll down to the first comparison chart here , you will see it is only available on enterprise and ultimate. This is a full-disk encryption product, different from the folder/file level encryption you are familiar with. Since you are on professional, you will need a third party solution, like TrueCrypt or Pointsec to achieve full-disk encryption.

Hi, For more information about BitLocker, please refer to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/bitlocker.aspx If you would like to use this BitLocker feature, you may consider to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate via Windows Anytime Upgrade.
