Windows 7 Professional Desktop Will NOT Connect to the Internet
So, this is really weird and Google/Bing have not been helpful at all to me. I cannot connect to the Internet at all. I don't even have an IP address. My Ethernet line cannot detect connections. My wireless adapter can detect networks, but not connect to them. I have updated the drivers, ensured that the DHCP, and Connection Probe services were running. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both wired and wireless adapters and upgraded said drivers. I've disabled both my antivirus and Windows firewall. System Restore made the connection come back...until I shut it down and then booted it up the next day. What's weird is that it was working just fine last week. Also, there are four computers hooked up to the network (including that desktop) and the remaining three's internet works just fine (I am typing from my laptop). I did not install anything new nor did I make any changes (that I remember, anyway) between the time it was working and the time it was not. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Hi, “System Restore made the connection come back...until I shut it down and then booted it up the next day. “ According the issue, I suggest that you may try to perform System Restore, then run Windows 7 in Safe Mode with network. Reboot your machine and run Windows 7 in safe mode with network again, check whether this problem occurs again. Since you said you didn’t change anything during the System Restore and shutting down. I suspect some third party software or virus changed the system setting or driver. If the issue persist, you may try to capture the network package for check whether this problem is a network related issue. 1) Download NetMon3.4 from the following website and install it on the computer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f 2) Launch NetMon3.4 on the machine. 3) In the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4 window, click Create a new capture tab … 4) In the new tab, select all the Network Adapters in the Select Networks window. 5) Then, switch to Network Monitor, press F5 to start NetMon. 6) Try to disable and enable the network connection©. 7) Go back to the NetMon window and press F7 to stop the NetMon. 8) Press Ctrl+S to save the Netmon file named test. Repro the steps above, access the folder use the shortcut and produce another log file. 9) Upload the files via SkyDrive ,and post a link here. There is a step that says to try to disable and enable the connection. I am unable to make a network connection in the first place. I had not installed anything between the time the connection worked, didn't work, and the System Restore. I use a third party antivirus, but I already tried disabling that to no avail.

Also, I have been trying to update the BIOS, but for some reason I can't seem to get it to boot off the flash drive. I used to have this capability without having to do anyting particularly special. I don't know what happened! This is getting quite frustrating...

I've solved the problem! Apparently, Microsoft does not see my network drivers as "approved" and so it disables them via the "Microsoft Driver Signature Enforcement." I boot up and disable that and viola! Internet! Now, I've got to figure out how to disable that permanently as it re-enables itself upon boot-up. Thanks for trying!
