Have you tried to boot your machine via the Win7 Disc?If you have a Win7 disc, you can try system restore after booting in the WinRE. In you don't have a WIn 7 disc, you can burn one, just using the ISO downloaded from the following link:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/cc442495.aspx Once you make the disc, you can try system restore in WinRE. Please choose choose a point before installing the USB headset. Good luck!John

John,Thanks I have the Windows 7 CD. I tried to boot from the CD, the problem is it can't find any restore points.I can go to the advanced option in system and run command promt. I can look through my files and see that they are all still there.Ideally I would be able to find the bad driver and delete it.as an alternate option i would like to use command prompt to copy the files to an external drive. However when I try and do that i get a .dat file on the exteranl drive. What command should i use to copy a directory?

Hi, As your question, I would like to tell you that you can try the following command to make a copy for your files in WinRE. XCOPY {Old file location} {New file location} /E For example, if I want to backup the files from C:\Test\Backup to D:\Backup, I can type the following command. XCOPY C:\Test\Backup D:\Backup /E Note: When the "(F=file, D=directory)?)" message is received, please press “D” on the keyboard to continue the copy. In addition, as you can try startup repair in the WinRE. If that does not return you to a working configuration, try using the DISM command to see what update is in a problem state: dism.exe /image:d:\ /get-packages When you run this command, you should see one or more packages listed in a Pending state. Please let us know the details of pending update or package. If there are pending updates, you can try the following command to revert the pending action. dism.exe /image:d:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions Once this is complete, try starting the PC into Windows. If your PC still failed to work, it's better to parallel install your Win7 again.Good luck!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------John

Hello Silverr48817, I had the same problem. This problem may of been caused by a Win32:Vitro. I had that virus and it took Windows Vista away from me, but now I have windows 7. Things you will need to fix this problem Windows 7 Home, Professional, Ultimate, Enterprize Installation Disk (Of what OS you have), Skills to know how to boot into a CD at startup ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had to Format and install windows 7 and that fixed the problem after you Re-Install. Make sure you have a anti virus and Malware Bytes, Malware Bytes Microsoft Security Essentials Do a full scan with those and you're sure to find a Virus or Malware! Hope This Helps, DellInspiron1545

I had this same problem after running a registry cleaner. I read every forum on this subject for 2 days ran all kinds of crazy dos command that were on this board to try to fix the problem. NONE OF THEM WORKED. I finally ended up taking it to Best Buy Geek squad. They told me well you have to call Toshiba to get the install disk and do a fresh install or we can charge you 99 dollars to copy your old files off your hard drive. I declined since I wanted to try a few more thing, here is the EASY WORK AROUND. DUEL BOOT YOUR SYSTEM. Downloand gparted, create a new partition on your hard drive, the tutorial is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TK5YezY-Xc after that install a new operating system or old one on the new partition. Reboot your computer you should be able to get into the new operating system copy your critial files, then reinstall windows 7 over the old partition, it should also copy all your old files to windows.old. this took me 4 days to figure out after reading all the other bs on this board.
