Windows 7 Pro x64 - Failed backup
I have a client who has been backing up their computer for the past year without any issues. Now all their backups on the computer are failing with the message of Windows Backup Error 0x80080005. Unfortunatley I'm not finding any further errors to report on concerning this backup. Any help you can provide is appreciated.David Bell

1. Is this one or more computers? 2. There is possible cause in multiple instance http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsbackup/thread/29bd3fc9-9538-4d82-9b13-96263c4f2f73/ 3. Some third party software may cause the problem http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/unable-to-complete-backup-error-0x80080005/96eddd77-5e5b-41f9-a64e-5e2e31d4bfd4 Regards Milos

Thanks Milos. I've finally found the solution to this in the below linked article. Specifically as stated by David Lum: Solution: manually set all permissions in "System Volume Information" to SYSTEM. You must do each and every item in the folder separately. If you miss one, backup will fail. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/unable-to-complete-backup-error-0x80080005/96eddd77-5e5b-41f9-a64e-5e2e31d4bfd4?auth=1&page=1&tm=1340210681308David Bell
