Windows 7 Pro Update Error Code 80096001
I have a computer that won't update. It give error code 80096001. I have tried the Microsoft Fixit WU, it says it is changing things, but doesn't fix the problem. Any Ideas?

Hi, Could you manually install Windows 7 update package? Please logon with Clean Boot and update again. Also you can try to Resets the Windows update components: Access the below link and use the Fix it tool mentioned in the article to automatically reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 If the issue persists, I suggest to install Windows 7 SP1, there are many update in that package. Hi, I am having the same problem. How do you manually install Windows 7 update package? Go to the Microsoft Download Center, type the name of the update package in the box at the top of the page and hit ENTER; save the update package file, right click on the file and choose "Run as Administrator" to manually install the update.
