I have a computer that won't update. It give error code 80096001. I have tried the Microsoft Fixit WU, it says it is changing things, but doesn't fix the problem. Any Ideas?

Hi, Could you manually install Windows 7 update package? Please logon with Clean Boot and update again. Also you can try to Resets the Windows update components: Access the below link and use the Fix it tool mentioned in the article to automatically reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 If the issue persists, I suggest to install Windows 7 SP1, there are many update in that package. Go to the Microsoft Download Center, type the name of the update package in the box at the top of the page and hit ENTER; save the update package file, right click on the file and choose "Run as Administrator" to manually install the update.
