Windows 7 Pro Remote Desktop Lockout Problem
Running Windows 7 Pro on my laptop and PC. Remote session opens fine, no problems. The problem occurs when I return to the Remote Desktop Computer. I try to login and I get a message that I was not able to be logged in because someone is using this account in a remote session. Scary.. But I have learned that although my remote desktop sessions are terminating from the laptop, or whatever, successfully, they are NOT ending on the remote Desktop PC. The problem is I am locked out and can only get back in through hard reset (DATA LOSS). I've been lucky so far but seems to be a consistent bug. Never occurred with XP. Anyone have any ideas on this?

When you exit the Remote Desktop [RDC] session on the remote PCb, ie. your on PCb and using RDC to remotely control PCa? If your simply clicking the "Red X" at the upper right of the RDC window try going to Start and either using Log Off or Disconnect.MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

I have clicked and X and gone to the start menu and clicked disconnect, each render the same result. I have no tried logging out as I wish to leave stuff running and come back to it, but for diagnostic purposes I will try it now.

Same result after logging out, its showing the welcome screen and just hanging. After awhile it will display this message: "The task you are trying to do can't be completed because Remote Desktop Services is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes. Other users should still be able to login."

Hi, Do you install any antivirus program on the machine, such as Zone Alarm? If so, please temporarily uninstall the software and check the result again. If the issue persists, please try the following to have a check: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 Thanks, Novak

I doubt uninstalling antivirus software and disabling firewalls is the answer here. How about a way to restart the terminal services server remotely? I experience this issue without any anti-virus, and a clean boot is not an option in an enterprise environment. Thanks, -Ben

I had the same problem; I opened a Support Incident with Microsoft and the solution was to uninstall ZoneAlarm Pro. I no longer receive the "The task you are trying to do can't be completed because remote desktop services is currently busy." error any longer.
