Windows 7 Pro 32-bit has no networking after booted up but a restart will fix it, sometimes.
Hi,I recently ordered 23 HP dx2450s with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. One of them is having an intermittent networking issue where it will have no Network connectivity whatsoever, no LAN, no Internet. It has assigned itself a 169 private ip address, and a repair, or a disable/re-enable on the adapter does not fix the issue, however, a reboot will sometimes remedy this issue, this has happened three times on the PC now, none of the other have this issue. This morning it happened and the user rebooted three times, when I finally got to her, she hjad turned the unit off, I turned it on and it connected immediately. It does not lose and active connection, only no connection at boot time sometimes. I have to check the driver to be sure, but I beleive it is the same one I am using on my dx2450 with Windows 7. All the units were prepped from the same image and this like I said is the only one with the issue. I don't think it is hardware, because even when there is no networking the connection and activity light are on on the back of the unit. This btw is a Nvidia gig on board LAN connection. The only differnce between this and the other PCs is that multiple users log on to this unit, where all the others are single user units. Thank you for any advice or assistance you might offer.

Even though you don't think it's hardware it would be worthwhile to check with HP support and to run any hardware diagnostics that came with the computer. If all the computers are identical and were installed from the same image hardware is certainly a possibility. Another possibility is some software that a user installed on this computer that isn't on the the others. Finally try the computer at a different position. It could be a wiring or switch problem.Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

Hi, Kerry's suggestion is worth to perform. Meanwhile, you can also try the following steps. 1. Temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus program on the problematic machine. 2. Assign a static IP address and DNS address for a test. 3. Bypass any router or switcher and connect to DSL Modem directly. Does the issue persist? (You can also put the machine to another location as Kerry said.) Thanks, Novak
