Windows 7 Pro - Does Not Remember Network Authentication Settings
We have (2) Windows 7 Pro computers joined to our primary domain (Windows Server 2008 R2). Additionally, they are part of a secondary peer-to-peer network (through a second network card), that is separate from the primary domain. I have connected to each computer through Windows Explorer via IP address. When I type the IP of a specific computer, I can enter the peer-to-peer network credentials, such as: Username: \administrator Password: ********** When I check the box that says "Remember Network Credentials", the system will remember them until I restart. However, after I restart, all of my network locations (printers, folders, etc.) are disabled until I enter each computers IP address in Explorer and log in again. in order to communicate with the Windows 2000 Pro machines on the peer-to-peer network, I had to change a few security settings. Here's what I did (from http://www.tannerwilliamson.com): Go to your Start Menu, and search for Local Security Policy. When it comes up, dont click it straight away. Right click, and say Run as Administrator. Select Local Security Policies from the Directory Tree on the left, and then beneath of that, select Security Options. Under the policy browser select and open Network security:Minimum session security for NTLM SSP (including RPC based) Clients. Uncheck both boxes so that neither Require NTLMv2 session security or Require 128-bit encryption are checked. Apply the settings and close that window. select and open Network security:Minimum session security for NTLM SSP (including RPC based) Servers. Again, Uncheck both boxes so that neither Require NTLMv2 session security or Require 128-bit encryption are checked. Apply the settings and close that window. Back in the Security Policies browser for Local Security Policies Security Options, locate and open the policy Network Security LAN Manager authentication level. Locate and select the option Send LM & NTLM use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated. Click Apply, and close out of all policy management windows. I'm not sure if these security setting have any effect on remembering the credentials. But, I'm still lost. How do I tell Windows to remember these credentials forever?

This is not direct answer to your question: You can configure logon scheduled task that maps the required resources in workgroup. Regards Milos
