Windows 7 Power Management Settings thru GPO
All,I have successfully configured a GPO which sets all domain workstations to the Power Settings I configured. My problem is that users are able to change the settings by going into Control Panel, and modifying the Power Options applet in Control Panel. How do I make it so that the GPO I configured will not allow an end user to change it?Basically, so that all of the options are greyed out? Thanks,Systems Admin

Can you share more details about the GPO you have configured? I guess you have used Group Policy Preferences inside GPO, right? I am thinking that you have used user preferences ..try using computer preferences ..that should solve the problem I feel. Thanks,

The settins are successfully passed to the end user's workstation, but they can modify it by going to the Power Options applet in Control Panel. In other words, they can change the "Turn off Hard Disk" option from 90 minutes to 30 minutes if they want to.How do i make it so that they can't change it?Systems Admin

HiIn the Group Policy Editor, navigate to User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel.Open Hide Specified Control Panel items.Select Enable and click the Show button. In the Value box, enter Microsoft.PowerOptions (Case sensitive)Click OK/OK.This will hide and prevent access to the power options.Hope this helps.Thank You for using Windows 7

Hi,
I'm trying to do the same in Group Policy Management in our domain. But the only options i see is the New power option(windows XP) and New power schema(Windows XP). I have made a central store with all the admx files for Windows 7 in sysvol and i can see
them there. But on this setting, i can not see the settings for Power Plan (Windows Vista and later).
Any ideas??
