Windows 7 Power Management Settings thru GPO
All,I have successfully configured a GPO which sets all domain workstations to the Power Settings I configured. My problem is that users are able to change the settings by going into Control Panel, and modifying the Power Options applet in Control Panel. How do I make it so that the GPO I configured will not allow an end user to change it?Basically, so that all of the options are greyed out? Thanks,Systems Admin

Can you share more details about the GPO you have configured? I guess you have used Group Policy Preferences inside GPO, right? I am thinking that you have used user preferences ..try using computer preferences ..that should solve the problem I feel. Thanks, Sitaram http://techibee.com http://sitaram-pamarthi.com

I configured the GPO for Computers.I went to Computer Configuration --> Preferences --> Control Panel Settings --> Power Options --> Power Plan (Windows Vista and later)Under that, I configured the following .... Action Update Make this the active Power Plan: Enabled Name High performance When computer is:Plugged inRunning on batteries Require a password on wakeup: Yes Yes Turn off hard disk after: After 90 minutes After 90 minutes Sleep after: Never Never Allow hybrid sleep: On On Hibernate after: After 120 minutes After 120 minutes Lid close action: Sleep Sleep Power button action: Sleep Sleep Start menu power button: Do nothing Do nothing Link State Power Management: Off Off Minimum processor state: After 100 minutes After 5 minutes Maximum processor state: After 100 minutes After 100 minutes Turn off display after: After 15 minutes After 10 minutes Adaptive display: On On Critical battery action: Do nothing Hibernate Low battery level: After 10 minutes After 10 minutes Critical battery level: After 5 minutes After 5 minutes Low battery notification: Off Off Low battery action: Do nothing Do nothing The settins are successfully passed to the end user's workstation, but they can modify it by going to the Power Options applet in Control Panel. In other words, they can change the "Turn off Hard Disk" option from 90 minutes to 30 minutes if they want to.How do i make it so that they can't change it?Systems Admin

Hi, I'm trying to do the same in Group Policy Management in our domain. But the only options i see is the New power option(windows XP) and New power schema(Windows XP). I have made a central store with all the admx files for Windows 7 in sysvol and i can see them there. But on this setting, i can not see the settings for Power Plan (Windows Vista and later). Any ideas??
