Windows 7 Ping
I was working on a batch file that uses an errorlevel from a ping command and noticed an issue with using Windows 7 ping. Pinging a device i know that is open on the network i get "Reply from XXX.XXX.XX.XX(local machine IP): Destination host unreachable. Okay good, well under the statistics due to the reply from the local machine its giving me a 0% loss thus returning the wrong errorlevel code. Has anyone else come across this issue, have a fix or a better understanding of these conditions than i do? Any info would be appreciated. thanks

Well I found a work around for the batch file, but was still curious if I was just looking at this all wrong or if anyone else was having the same issues.

Hi, Can you post the detail information about the batch file and the workaround here for research? When manually typing Ping in command console, does the error occur? Thanks, Novak

Yes - I have the same issue. I have a domain network at home and each useron any workstation runs a logon script that tests if the domain controller is online, using ping. If it's offline it gets booted etc. Just installed Windows 7 and the script doesn't work, exactly as above, because Win 7 ping retuns a zero errorlevel even if the target host cannot be found. I'd be interested in your workaround by the way :)
