Have you run chkdsk to check the USB HDD?

Hi,
If there is no error after the disk checking, please temporary disable antivirus, update BIOS and device drivers such as hard drive from computer manufacturer’s
website to check the result.
If the issue persists, I suggest you boot in Safe Mode, and clear the temp folder. Delete every files that can be deleted.
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp

Still nothing seems to be of help.
1. Formatted through windows
2. Volume Shadow Copy is set to Manual
3. No Security software installed
4. Chkdsk for the external drive reports no error
5. Tried using another Disk, another cable, another USB port- still same error with 3Tb drive.
I researched again and found that a lot of W7 users are complaining of this issue. It looks like there is a bug in W7 which is causing all this trouble.
Could someone open a bug report with Microsoft?
Thanks,
Grr

Hi Grr,
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked this issue through our internal channel, it is not a bug.
This can be the communication problem between the USB device and the computer. Let's
reinstall USB controller to check the result.
I would like to verify if backup to other device will work. Based on the current situation, I suggest using another external hard drive less than 3TB or local hard
drive as the backup location. You can re-configure the backup settings.
In addition, please also run the
disk defragment to check the result.

Thanks Simida.
The system image cannot be stored on local disk. And the system image was successful on 2 different External WD drives of capacity 1Tb & 2Tb, respectively.

Hi Grr,
It seemed the issue is caused by too large space of the External WD drivers. I suggest creating partitions on 3TB External WD to check the result.
Also, reformatting the External WD to check the result.

HI,
I have the same problem, but with a SEAGATE FA GOFLEX DESK 3TB drive. the backup from windows 7 fails with an error code
0x80078002A. i followed the suggestions in this thread without success, and also reducing the main partition to below 2.2TB didn't help. the drive does not us gpt tables, as its intended to be used with winxp as well, and seagate seems
to have implemented some workaround for the3TB size. could this be the problem?
