Windows 7 PC Safeguard vs. Faronics Deep Freeze
Hello I work in a university engineering IT department, and we have a couple hundred Dell Precision systems in several workstation labs, all running XP on an AD domain. All users have to log in as local administrators because much of the software requires local admin access, so we have kept the workstations' drives locked with Deep Freeze. Our image size is 50-60gb. We're looking at moving to Win7. Deep Freeze 7.2 doesn't work with Win7, and we'll have to pay for the upgrade anyway. PC Safeguard is free, so I'm investigating if we can use it instead of Deep Freeze. I have been finding tons of features about PC Safeguard, like the granularity to which control panel and other settings can be locked down, but we're not interested in that. We want our users to have complete control over the system, and just have EVERYTHING reset when the PC reboots. That's how we have it now and we don't want it to change. Also Deep Freeze has a console so we can mass-lock or mass-update PCs. 1st question: Can PC Safeguard simply lock the HD, resetting all settings, deleting all new files and installed programs, and restoring all deleted programs, on reboot? 2nd question: Is there a console or other method of controlling PC Safeguard from a server? Thanks for your help

See Paull Thurrott's article: http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/ff_pcsafeguard.asp. To quote here "Note: This feature has been removed from Windows 7 and will not appear in the final product. --Paul"I can't find it on my RTM copy or on RC Build 7201.________________ theWeissGuy
