Windows 7 Offline Files
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and it is working great except offline files. The files sync just fine when I can get it to work. The problem seems to happen when I come back into my network. It does not matter if my laptop is in sleep mode or turned off. When I log in from the sleep state, the network drive never reconnects. It seems to think that I am still outside of the network. If I reboot the machine, it lets me know that it cannot reconnect all the network drives. I can browse the offline files but that is it. I disconnect the mapped drive and reconnect it. If I do not select the option for different credentials, I get the same results as before, offline files are available and that is it. If I map the network drive and use the different credentials option (entering the same credentials as always) it might work. It never works on the first time but sometimes the second attempt or the third. Shouldn't the OS see the network and mapped drives when I reconnect to my network? Shouldn't the files become available? I'm not understanding what is wrong with this setup. It worked just fine with Windows XP and the short time I tested Windows Vista. I've had this issue with Windows 7 since it was still in the Beta stage. I figured when the final OS came out it would be resolved but I was wrong. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Configure Forced silent auto reconnection 1) Click Start, type REGEDIT in search bar, and then click OK. 2) Locate and click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache 3) Click Edit, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. 4) Type SilentForcedAutoReconnect, and then press ENTER to name the value. 5) Double-click SilentForcedAutoReconnect. 6) In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. 2. Check the following two policy settings that control the offline file slow-link mode and speed: Path: Computer Policy\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files Policies: Configure slow-link mode Configure slow-link speed If the issue persists, please also check the Event Log and see there are any related errors. Hi, This worked for me, but I would like to know why and what problems could happen. We have a similar environment here where Windows 7 Enterprise machines log into a 2003 AD domain. We were having problems with Windows 7 users on the LAN network who had large redirected, My Document folders. Based on Event 6006 and 6005 errors in the Event Logs, it looked like the Documents sync was being done EVERY time the machine logged in. Some users had 2+GB data to copy and login would take 4+ minutes, which was too long for users. I think the SilentForcedAutoReconnect was only meant for VPNs and XP, so why is it improving login for "on the network", Windows 7 machines. Could you/someone elaborate?@ndyP
