Windows 7 Off Line Files
I have installed a new hard drive in my laptop with a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate (X64). I have my old hard drive that is a Windows 7 (X86). On the old hard drive I have a network drive set up for off line file sync set up for pictures and was unable to get it to syncronize with the server. Therefore, I have a bunch of orpan files on the old hard drive that I need to get off of the old hard drive and copy them to the new network drive. I have the old hard drive on a hard drive caddy. How can I do this? I hope that I was able to explain this accurately. Thank you for any help.

check what type of interface the hard disk uses and buy a HDD caddy that will fit. then connect the drive to your new pc, it should register as mass storage and give you a drive in 'my computer' in there on windows 7 the offline data is saved: C:\Windows\CSC Hope this helps.

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. As my understanding, you would like to copy the offline files from your old drive. First, we need access the old drive. Please connect the old drive to your computer, go to X:\Windows\CSC (X represents your old system drive letter) and copy the files to your new network drive. If you receive a notification “You don't currently have permission to access this folder.”, you could try the following steps to take ownership of this folder: 1. Open an elevated command prompt. 2. Type the following: Takeown /r /f X:\Windows\CSC. Then you can access the files in this folder. Hope it helps. Alex Zhao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
