Windows 7 OEM replacement
Several months ago, we bought an Acer Aspire Revo nettop with win 7 home premium. Its primary function is to stream video. This pc has given me nothing but trouble. It came loaded with all kinds of crapware, which appears now to be removed, yet the computer still behaves badly- worse than a 3 month old install of windows 95. Streaming usually works well, once I get the pc to work for the session. But, it is (and always was) EXTERMELY slow, frequently to the point of being unusable as a PC. Always 5-10 second pauses on loading web pages. And it often freezes regularly for variable lengths of time - averaging 30-60 seconds. I have run burn-in utilities to assess possible hardware faults but this checks out. I have removed all the garbage that was loaded from the factory. Or at least it appears to be removed. I have re-installed McCrappe using their official removal tool. All told, this POS represents about 100 hours of my life wasted that I will never get back. So it is time to reload Win 7 to see if the computer will ever be usable, or if it is just a hopeless piece of crap destined for e-bay. I need to install a clean copy. I refuse to even consider going the Acer route of creating their restore disk because this will simply put the OS back with all the dysfunctional Acer supplied junk. Obviously, I have and have paid for the OEM key that came with the computer. So, I am not paying for it again. I need to download a replacement image that will work with this key, with windows and only windows present. Can someone point me to an official MS link to a replacement copy that will work with my key? If one does not exist, please explain the serial number allocation scheme so that I may select a replacement image that will work with my license. I've read all kinds of rumors about keys for one mfg not working on another. Thank you

Actually you’re quite wrong there is no feature difference between enterprise and ultimate. The only difference is the volume licensing. And there is no "bunch of unwanted stuff' in the enterprise version. It comes with all available features, and no OEM adware trialware crippled versions etc... I know this because that is the version I am running right now. And While I can not say for sure with the trial download I can say for sure with the enterprise dvd iso’s from Microsoft, that all versions are there and all you have to do it edit or delete the ei.cfg file. Go troll some where else.

Delete all partions and re-install = ;) Now your stuck in a bit of a catch 22 nitemare. I assume the machine did not come with a windows disc and doing a restore would restore the garbage too. Acer gives you junk and microsoft's not going to give you a disc. One thing that might work would be to get a trial version from microsoft and then use you key. A normal windows7 disc, has all similar versions on it 32bit has starter basic premium pro ultimate, 64bit has basic premium pro ultimate, however OEM's often lock the disc to a specific version. Here's a link to some info that might help you out with this and similar problems. http://www.windowsvalley.com/create-windows-7-aio-all-in-one-dvd-or-merge-all-editions-of-windows-7-in-single-dvd/comment-page-8/#comment-3736

And just where do you think the OP is going to get a "trial" version that his OEM key is going to work with. The only "trial" version of Windows 7 is Enterprise. If you think he has a bunch of unwanted stuff on his OEM system now, just see what you get with Enterprise. Enterprise is considerably different than the other version of Win 7.
