Windows 7 Network system tray icon right click function not available
Normally when you single right click on the Windows 7 Network icon in the System Tray it opens a pop-up window showing your current connections and all available other connections. Now however, after using the laptop for several hours, and after a few desktop unlocks and a resumes from Standby, this no longer works. I click and nothing happens. The only way I can access this is to right click the icon, open the Network and Sharing Center then click "Connect or Disconnect". This is a pain as I need to continually connect/disconnect various VPN's. If I re-boot it does start working again. I can't find the exact scenario to make it stop working but it happens regularly. Hope there is a fix for this. James

Hi James, Is there anything changed before the issue occurs? If so, please try System Restore. Run the following command and see if the pop-up menu will appear: rundll32.exe van.dll,RunVAN if the issue persists, please try the following steps to troubleshoot this issue. 1. Temporarily disable Firewall and third party antivirus program on the computer for a test. 2. Boot the system to Safe Mode with networking and see if the issue persists. If not, please also boot to Clean Boot environment to determine the possible cause. 3. Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7. 4. Set up the network again. Hope it helps.
