Windows 7 Network connection drops time to time
Guys, I found the similar problem on other two threads but haven't resolved properly. I also have the similar problem. I bought a HP Pavilion DV6 3016TX with Windows 7 (64bit) Pro & connecting through US Robotics USR9110 router but the connection drops time to time. but other machines with Windows XP doesn't have a problem with the connection. I found below post.. will this be the problem for this..? http://besthubris.com/computers-internet/wireless-network-drop-connection-windows-7-error/ Thanks..!welusumana

Unbinding IPv6 is a possible temp. solution. Your router is not fully compatible with W7 (see thread below) and the W7 hardware compat list. You will eventually NEED IPv6 capabilities so replacing this router is the best solution. The latest firmware is from 2007 and jas not been updated for W7. It predates W7 by two years. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/548453d0-34d1-485f-b123-852df8addcd4 I found the similar problem on other two threads but haven't resolved properly. this is something to do with homegroup I believe, as I had the same problem but only on my home connection and not if I changed it to a public connection. Basically my router was needing reset every 15 mins or halfway through downloading a large file. I fixed the problem by changing my internet connection to public rather than home, but I believe you are able to just opt out of home group by clicking on your home connection. I am not that techie, but this definitely worked for me, and the problem returns if I change my connection back to home and it joins the homegroup again. Try changing your connection from home to public in the network and sharing centre and see if this stops the connection dropping, if so then at least you what the problem is.

Yeah.. Barb is correct I think it will not be a solution, & Barb.. yes, as you said the firmware of my existing router is too old & the manufacturer doesn't have any new versions also. I am planning to buy a new router (Cisco WAP 4410N), I will update this thread for you on the result after it's installed. aclogan, I guess you have the same problome. Thanks Barb..!welusumana

Im not sure that is a router. It may be an access point only. On Mon, 18 Oct 2010 04:29:53 +0000, Welusumana wrote: > I am planning to buy a new router (Cisco WAP 4410N) Barb Bowman http://www.digitalmediaphile.com

It could be a router compatiblilty issue. Updrading the firmware to the latest version may solve the problem permanately. The temp solution is to restart the DHCP-client service. --Ephrem
