After entering the user name and password windows 7 professional taking long time to logon on windows 2008 R2 Server environment. The profile is roaming. If I take the network cable out it doesn't take that long. There is some where it keeps communicating to logon. Any one who could help where to start?

Hi, I think this behavior is normal, because you are using the roaming profile, before the desktop appearing, the client must synchronize the settings and files with server so that this situation happens. Also, you can follow the article below to enable the debug logging. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221833 Then please upload the log to Skydrive and edit the permission to public, let us help you analyse it. Hope this helps. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, I am sorry for the previous reply. After my research, I found that the userenv.log is no longer present in Windows 7 and Windows 2008. But you may use the gpsvc.log to log the Group Policy related action. please refer to the following link. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverTS/thread/6929e4b7-e595-4102-9981-6f9962c5bfb7 http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/05/13/two-minute-drill-logman-exe.aspx Also, you can use the logman.exe to log the User Profile Service tracing. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverGP/thread/79e353b3-c79b-4ae3-8099-87f7aedad466 In addition, the Windows Preformance tool kit can also log the login tace. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/1437d9dd-161e-4c68-a4b2-539a6871cb56 Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
