Windows 7 Network Issue
So I've got a PC in my living room and also my bedroom. All of my media (mainly music and photos off my digital camera) are stored on a drive on my living room PC (F drive) The media is sorted into folders: F:\folder 1\ F:\folder 2\ F:\folder 3\ and so on and so forth. My problem arises when I try to access these directories from my bedroom computer. Some of the folders work fine, others I don't have permission to get to. This doesn't make any sense to me. This is just data. I have shared the hard drive, I have checked folder permissions and they are all full access for everyone. Yet some work, some don't. I've tried mapping the network drive, and using the homegroup feature in Windows 7, but nothing works. Certain folders just will not allow access. Please help!

Hi, We can take the following steps to check this issue: 1. You can set security permissions on files and folders in both Sharing and Security tabs. These permissions grant or deny access to the files and folders. Please add everyone to Group or user names to test how it works. 2. Temporarily turn off firewall on the Windows 7 machine and the target machine for a test. 3. Disable the share folder and share it again to see how it works. You can also try copying the files of problematic shared folder to another new shared folder. 4. If it is possible, use another Windows 7 computer to test if it can access these shared folders. Please let us know the result. Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Alex -- Step 1 worked! For whatever reason, the folders had different settings. No idea why or how, but it works now. Very thankful. There was no need for me to disable Windows Firewall on either system. Disabling/reenabling the share did not work when I tried it earlier (obviously). I did not have another Win7 machine to test on. Thanks again.
