Windows 7 Login Issue
I have set up windows 7 so that it asks me my password after logging on, so I don't have to wait using the following in startup:C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStationWell it used to work fine, but just yesterday I changed my password and now when I boot up it says something along the lines of [password incorrect] before logging on. Now I have to type my password before logging on and after. Anyone know a way so I can remove this error so I can go back to how it was? Thanks for your time.

I'm not quite sure what you actually did. Did I understand you correctly that you put the "LockWorkstation" call into your startup folder? Why did you do so? This obviously locks your computer immediately after you log on so you have to unlock it using your password.I should say: Simply remove that call from your startup.Nils Kaczenski MVP Directory Services Hannover, Germany

Yes, i made it so that it locks the computer after log on rather than before. That way all the programs would be ready for me when I come back to the computer to use it, rather than having to wait for the programs to boot after logging on. Does that not make sense to you?

No, it does not make sense to me.Firstly, the usual way to handle logon is to not auto-logon any user. Auto-logon means that you do trust the environment. Obviously you do not, otherwise you would not get your computer locked. So it's way better to use the logon procedure as designed: Log on explicitly when you are in front of your PC.Secondly, your wish to quickly start using your programs: Windows 7 will optimize the file layout and boot order so that it can launch the programs that you frequently use more quickly. Simply give it a try. Probably it will have learned in some days and you can start working right away.Thirdly, your incorrect password issue: This is most likely caused by the autologon which still has the old password stored.I strongly advise you not to use auto-logon in your situation.Nils Kaczenski MVP Directory Services Hannover, Germany

OK thank you anyway. The reason I use this method is because the people I don't want accessing the laptop aren' hackers or anything (family/friends), they wouldn't be able to get passed the method I was and still am using anyway. It just speeds things up for me while keeping it secure. Also there is only 1 account on this laptop and that's the one i'd auto-logon into. I have given the conventional method a try, and it works fine except it's slower. It's maybe a second faster if I don't swipe my finger wrong (fingerprint scanner), but thats normally not the case. So while i'm getting my fingerprint right or while im away, everything would already be loaded. It's just easier for me anyway.
