Windows 7 Key Validation
Hello, my problem is this: I recently bought from ebay a key for Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit for my laptop. I did not have a problem installing or validating and everything is ok. i also tried the online verification tool from Microsoft to double check that my key is valid and it is. My question is that if the seller from ebay can sell my key again after i have installed and verified it for my laptop. Is it possible and will the other computer be verified like mine? Or after i validated my copy, anyone else will try to enter my key will not be able to validate his Windows. Thank you

It is extremely risky to purchase a Windows 7 product key from an eBay seller. The vast majority of those product keys belong to a MSDN or TechNet subscription and are not for resale! The risk is once Microsoft determines the product keys were sold illegally, a block will be placed on them and they will become non-genuine. You should only purchase software from a trusted, reliable source with a proven track record. eBay sellers of standalone product keys do not fall in this category. Don't fall victim to stand-alone COAs If you receive offers for COAs as stand-alone items, be aware that these offers are highly suspect and can put you at risk. To fall victim to stand-alone COAs offers means that you may have wasted valuable money and you will not have a legal license to run the software. The best way for you to protect yourself is to purchase software from a familiar, reputable reseller. The Anti-Counterfeiting Act of 2003 makes it a criminal offense for dishonest resellers to distribute stand-alone COA labels.Ref: What is a Certificate of Authenticity (COA)? and Purchasing Genuine Microsoft Software Carey Frisch

Thank you for the info but you did not actually responded to my question. So the same key can be validated on many computers or once it is validated in one computer it can be validated only for this one? Thanks

An unscruplous eBay seller of product keys can sell the product key many times, then disappear into thin air. That is why they usually state that no refunds will be made. Then one day, you'll start your computer and the Windows 7 license will be flagged as non-genuine....sorry!Carey Frisch

Panos80, did you pay near retail price for that key? I'm guessing no... More like $14.98.How can you possibly imagine that someone on eBay could sell you a valid license for Windows 7 Ultimate for nearly $300 off, with no actual disc delivered? There's an old saying, "If it seems too good to be true - it probably is!"Shame on you for supporting a pirate!-Noel

Hi, Since the license policy is not the same at different country, I suggest you contact your local Microsoft Customer Service for further assistance to check whether the key is already registered by someone else. Thanks, Novak
