Windows 7 Internet stops working
I have 2 laptops, 1 netbook and 1 PC in my house all on Windows 7, i have a problem where after a while the internet will just stop working randomly and have to restart the specific laptop to get it working again. It doesn't happen to all laptops at the same time... when one stops another is still able to browse, so its not my router/internet connection. When the internet does go off for a laptop the wireless connection still shows as connect and full strength it just i cannot browse the internet. I have already gone to the wireless device via device manager to uncheck the power saving features. Any help would be appreciated and would gladly answer any questions. It has to be windows as all the laptops are different with different wireless cards. My laptop is also a fresh install. EDIT: I have tried different routers and still same problem. My Laptop: HP dv9930us - Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN My Netbook: Advent 5301 - REALTEK RTL8201 LAN CONTROLLER (ONBOARD) Family Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L300D PSLC8E Router: DSL-2740B (Latest 2.51 Firmware) All Drivers/BIOS/Windows/Installed software are fully up-to-date. (all drivers are signed). All using Windows Firewall.

Hi, How often does the issue occur? Does the issue occur when connecting Internet via wired cable instead of Wireless connection? I suggest you temporarily turn off firewall on each machine for a test. If the issue persists, please run a complete scan via antivirus program and perform a Clean Boot to check the result. What's the result? If there is any error message, please capture a screenshot and upload it. Thanks, Novak

Its random and different on every machine (Wireless), on my laptop it goes off randomly but certainly goes off after 20-30 minutes after i've started downloading something from uTorrent (something legal of course i.e. a large important update for a game) and internet still doesn't work even after i've closed uTorrent. On my netbook is used to just BSOD if uTorrent was running but i get "Page cannot be displayed" like every ten mins or so even with just the browser open. After it did BSOD i usually send the error report when windows starts up again and says it had a unexpected error or something like that. I can't even type in 192.168.1.1 to connect to my router, but my laptops can. I've tried turning off the wireless device via the switch on my laptop and then turn it back on again. I've also tried just disabling the device via ncpa.cpl, sometimes that works but mostly i have to restart. When it happens i will try turning windows firewall off. Its a fresh install so doubt if its a virus and everything via msconfig > startup/services is unticked. No error messages appear, i just start getting "page cannot be displayed messages" and msn disconnects. Thanks for replying :) Any of questions let me know.

It happens every so often when utorrent is not running like (around 1-2 hours), but it happens everytime after 20-30 mins when utorrent is running. When i close uTorrent internet still doesnt work. When it happened this morning i got it working again by disabling the WLAN Adapter, turning the adapter off by the switch and then enabling it again. Then it works again. Regarding the Restarting in safe mode, i dont think thats needed because normally a good restart will solve the issue until it happens again. UPDATE: There's a bunch of stuff in the event log. Hi,It's necessary to restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and verify whether Internet can be accessed fine in this mode. To do this, we can eliminate the third party cause.Regarding the Event log error 1014, please refer to the following articles:Event Log 1014Please also try the suggestions from the link below:Dropping internet connection Windows 7 Home Premium x64Thanks,Novak

Hey guys! I have the same problem with my laptop! my internet keeps failing me very similarly! Every now and then (sometimes right after boot and sometimes after a couple of hours) my browsers don't respond anymore. They just won't open links anymore. I can try whichever site or lan address and it just stays still..tries to start loading the webpage/web address but stops after like a few miliseconds. Just as something was preventing it to connect. I tried a couple of the browsers and all with the same result. My torrents however continue to download normally, and I don't get disconnected from online play or MSN. However, after this happens, if I wasn't connected before the event, I am no longer able to log in to MSN/games/browse net. It is really annoying because it happens a couple of times per day and the only solution is to restart my laptop. If anyone would know what the problem could be, or had the same problem, please share your solution with me, would really appreciate any help! I'm on a Asus a7sn laptop with win7 ultimate 64 bit on a asus rx3141 gigalan router connected together with my girlfriend's laptop via wired connection. We seem to have error ID: 4001 (WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped) in common, i think the problem might be half-open tcp connections. What you think?

Hello there Peoples,A lot of this well above me but I can tell you this. When I run Utorrent my internet dies without fail in 3-4 hours period. AIM still works and the torrents work but show RED. I am not able to do a thing other than than that and W7 Diags say its my prividers fault I really doubt FIOS is turning off my internet. I am going to try another client thats all I can do. The bottom line is Utorrent makes my internet stop working and unless there is a definite fix I am going to stop using it for now.For the Record:Gigabyte X58 UD7 MB w/ I7 920 DO stepping6 meg of Crucial Ballistix Tracer ram5770 HIS Video ( which DOES give me the GSOD LUCKY me... )Intel CT 1000 Gigabyte NIC

I had networking problems as well. 3 computers running Windows 7. 2 had Adobe CS3 installed which brings with is a piece of software called Bonjour. These two computers had no end of networking problems. 1 was a desktop connected to the router and the other was a laptop connecting via WiFi. Third computer didn't have CS3 and didn't have any trouble at all. In trying to find a solution (nothing seemed to work), I came across the solution shown below in a different thread and thought I would share it. I installed the upgrade for Bonjour (it's listed as Windows Vista 64 software) and all of my network problems cleared up. My thanks to "PDX Prod Mgr". Brilliant! " PDX Prod Mgr I had the same problem when I rebuilt my Windows 7 system. I had CS3 installed on my system, it installs an old version of bonjour. If you inspect your program files\bonjour directory, see if you have an EXE and DLL file dated 2006. Jump over to apple's website and search for windows bonjour. I found the newer download here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/Bonjour_for_Windows Download and install this (you don't have to uninstall the old Bonjour) and reboot. This fixed my install and I no longer have the network error you describe. If you look at that folder now, you will have the newer DLLs (and some other gunk.) "

Hello there, Well for past 2 weeks I was having the same problem as you have with Event ID 1014 keeps popping up and my internet connection going on and off while local LAN connectivity was still on. After browsing dozens of solutions and pages no one worked for me. So I tried to fix it on my own and I think I found a way to fix this problem in this particular scenario. If you are connected to you PC be it laptop or desktop through WiFi and get Event ID 1014 OR your router is N capable and your pc is only G ready then please read: Open your router admin page which should be 192.168.1.1 and enter your credentials. Then navigate to the page where you have advanced setting for your wifi or the page (browse to find) where you can change and alter these settings: Band: 2.4 (or what your country supports or dual mode) Channel: 11 (or what you country supports or dual mode, but do remember this and note down) Standard Mode / Mode: Select only G if you laptop of desktop is not N capable and avoid abg or bg or gn or abgn. And save these settings. Now go to you desktop/laptop Network and Sharing Center (Windows 7) and go to Change Adapter Settings, right click on your wifi adapter and go to Properties and on the pop up windows click on Configure, thne on next pop up windows click on Advance tab and here select same channel as you selected on you router for ex: 11 and mode/type/frequency as only G not abgn, bgn, or gn and save and exit. What you have done here is that your router and pc are now communicating on same channel and standard which is G and there is no guessing and discovering left for your PC so there will be no more connection lost or Event ID 1014. This worked in my scenerio with 99% success. Also do try Google Open DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in you router as static DNS setting for all your devices. Nothing hurts to try. Goodluck.

This is what I did to get it to work, Go to Services and select Network Connections, Service status: Started, now press the stop button, then select start. Also I changed the settings on the Recovery tab, set all three failures to Restart the Service. The only other thing I did prior to the above was end process to explorer.exe in Windows task manager , then enable it in the Run box by typing explorer.exe this didn't seem to work so I did the above. I will see if this keeps working, and will get back to you. NTHZONE

I too am having this same issue. Where network connectivity will just be 'Not Available.' That's what it says if I have the adapter status dialog up. My story is this; about a month ago my wireless router died and I replaced it with a 802.11b/g/n the PC has a g card in it and I wanted to make use of the upgrade in speed so I purchased a new NIC and this is were all the fun begins! After dealing with the manufacture of the NIC and their solution was that perhaps I got a lemon card to take it back and get a new card. I opted to instead of getting a new card to just get a USB dongle. And the problem of network connectivity still exists. So it's not the NIC causing the problem it's windows. I dove into the System event log and there was quite a bit of stuff there. Some of it is above the scope of my knowledge. It's my wife's PC and its making her more crazy then she already is and then she gets all mad and starts taking it out on me! Oi! I put the event log out on my Google Drive and if somebody that know much much more could tell me what to do to fix this I'd really appreciated it!! Here is the --> Event log ( https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3POE6E6Ym6oUlBCOGtMUzc3OFU ) Thanks so much for the help! p.s. Everything on the PC is up to date, windows updates, drivers and so on. I have already dealt with the router people and the router is functioning nominally. I have several other wireless devices that use this same router and none of them exhibit this behavior.

The wifi inbound still goes down so resetting the Network Connections Service didn't work. I have a 2wire 3800HGV-B from Uverse for my internet connection.
