Windows 7 Internet networking issues - uploading to internet timeout
Hi guys, I have a client with a SBS2003 flat network, all running XP SP3 machines fine with no issues. They purchased a new HP laptop with Windows 7 Pro and its having issues uploading to the Internet (or so it appears). Example of the issue: a) Using an online form which requires him to input data, clicking the send button goes nowhere. b) Running upload speed tests to 2 seperate speedtest websites timesout on the upload. Uploading to the server is no issue, browsing the web normally is no issue. I have run through a number of troubleshooting steps: - Replace network cables at PC and Switch - no change - Swapped switch port - no change - Used a static IP address - no change - Flushed DNS on Server and PC - no change - Confirmed XP machine and Server can run upload speed test with out issue - Confirmed both XP machines and the Windows 7 machine is receiving the same GPO - Confrimed Win7 machine is in correct group in AD - Checked host file for entries which could cause issue - host file empty - Cleaned out temp and temp internet files - no change - Ran in safe mode with networking - no change - Set DNS to point to an external server - no change I then ran some wireshark traces and found a lot of TCP Checksum errors which I thought was the cause, but then I connected my laptop to the network, which is Win7 and had the same issues, without the TCP Checksum errors. The only correlation I can find with this issue is with Windows 7 machines on this network, and I cannot figure out why. Has anyone had this or a similar issue with Win7 machines? Kind regards, Ben Moreland

Hi Ben Moreland, Thanks for the post! What size of your uploading file? Please refer to this KB 944981 Although this is applied for SBS2008, you can still try the workaround there. If the issue persists, I recommend you also ask this question in Windows Small Business Server Forum. The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other communities who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Hi Miya Yao, I dont think you read my post correctly. The problem is not on the server, it on the Windows 7 laptop. I only mentioned the SBS2003 server to give more detail for the network and environment the laptop is connected to. Server details aside, the problem is as follows: Windows 7 laptop has trouble sending information to various websites. These websites include Java Script forms and also simple speedtest websites which transmit small files from the PC to the site to measure the upload speed. These upload tests timeout on 2 different test websites. I introduced a 2nd Windpows 7 PC to the network and had the same problems. I am not trying to send data from laptop to server at all, this is laptop to Internet. However, when I establish a VPN connection from the laptop to a remote site, the websites work fine. Is there a difference in the way Windows 7 machines handle TCP traffic different to windows XP machines??
