Windows 7 IP address problems, no internet access - Cannot find IP address automatically
My previously connected Internet connection changed to unidentified network when I used a new laptop. It wouldn't find a valid IP address, I did try to set the properties to find IP address automatically, and then restart the laptop. However, i still can't do it What can I do to fix this, I only recently bought the laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium, so I can't see how it's affected in any way. I already remove the Norton and Macfree. However, the problem is still there.

Open cmd.exe Run ipconfig /release then run ipconfig /renew This will request a new IP address from the dhcp server (probably your router). If this does not work, run ipconfig /all and post the results here

Hi, Before going on, I would like to know how does the computer connect the Internet. If the machine is connected via Wireless or router, I suggest you bypass the router and connect to cable modem directly to check the result. Meanwhile, please try the following: 1. Update your NIC driver to the latest version. 2. Test if this issue persists in Safe Mode with Networking. If this issue does not occur in Safe Mode, please boot into Clean Boot mode to check the result. Hope this helps. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

Try going into your tcp/ip settings, and change your dns server from automatic to 8.8.8.8 (googles public dns server) . Here's an article on how to do this :D http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings
