Windows 7 IE 8 logs out me in multiple tabs
This is driving me crazy. Last week all of a sudden IE 8 just kept logging me out of website forums if I opened more than a few tabs. For example if I go to these boards and log in and then click on multiple threads to open in multiple tabs, tab 2 or 3 logs me out for ALL tabs. This happens on ALL the Forum type boards in IE 8. Firefox is fine. I am wondering if there was some update that did this. I am running Windows 7 and I have "reset IE 8" back to default, deleted all cookies, cached files etc. I am a tech but this is baffling me. It is enough to make me switch to Firefox.lforbes

Hello, Did you try to delete all the files under: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files and then test the issue again? Besides, please fully scan your computer via anti-virus and malware removal tools, in case the issue is caused by hostile scripts. Thanks. Regards, Miya Yao

Regards, Miya Yao In my original thread I said that I set IE 8 back to default which includes deleting all Temporary Internet Files, cookies, settings. In fact I have IE 8 set to delete all Temporary Internet Files on Close. This is a Windows IE 8 issue. It is not related directly to my personal machine as I can replicate it on my 3 Windows 7 machines with different profiles. There is no virus causing this. I am updated with the most current Java and Flash, and it doesn't do it on Firefox, just IE 8 after the last updates. Try it yourself with these boards. Login to one tab and then open 10 threads up in different tabs. After about tab 3 or 4 it will log you out.lforbes

I’ve opened more than 20 threads in new tabs, the problem you mentioned doesn’t show, it’s also work well in my colleague’s computer. The only time I need to sign in my ID is copy the website from Firefox and open it in IE. Open IE > Tools > Internet Options, click Settings under AutoComplete. Here’s the shortcut of mine, check if yours is as same as mine. In addition, try to open IE in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t work, please use System Restore to the time point before your IE has problem. Regards, Miya Yao

Here's how to disable tabs in IE8: * go to Tools > Internet Options * click on the Settings button from the Tabs section * uncheck "Enable Tabbed Browsing" * click "OK" twice to close the two dialogs * restart IE

I use them constantly. I just want them to retain security information from one tab to another.lforbes

It is the function that recognizes you are logged in in one tab when you open another. I wasn't the only one with this issue as I googled and others had the same issue. However, MS sent out another IE update on Tuesday and it seems to have fixed it on all computers so hopefully it will stay fixed.lforbes

So it turns out that Windows Live Sign In Assistant is the culprit. Apparently it tends to lose passwords regularly. I have this problem only with IE, not Firefox. I have uninstalled Windows Live Sign In Assistant so I will see if that fixes this very annoying issue.lforbes
