Windows 7 Homegroup Connected but Cannot Share Libraries
I have several 1 PC with Windows 7 Ultimate and another 3 with Windows 7 Home Basic. I create the Homegroup in Windows 7 Ultimate, and then add the first 2 PC to the HomeGroup and success. I can share the files located in Library. However, when I try to add the third PC, at first I cannot join the Homegroup (and later I notice the time is not the same, but after I change the time I can join the homegroup), but after I can join the Homegroup, I can see the PCs in my homegroup, but cannot access them at all. When I try to open, I was asked a username and password. I then change the advanced setting: "Turned off Password Protected Sharing" and then can get the access, but when I tried to open Documents, it did nothing. What's wrong actually? PS: Before I also tried to adjust the setting in my Windows Firewall, since I notice several "File & Printer Sharing" is turned off, then I enable it for Private and Public only.

Hi, If you don't want to enter the credential to access the library, please add everyone permission to the folders and enable guest account as well. Niki Han TechNet Community Support

Hi Niki Han, Thanks for the response. However, why is it only one PC that cannot access the library, while the other can? And I didn't edit/change any permission in my library windows. Thanks

Hi, If only one PC has the problem, please disable security software and Windows Firewall on that PC for a test. And ensure "Let Windows manage Homegroup Connections" option is enabled in the Network and Sharing Center\Advanced Sharing Options. Why can't I access my homegroup? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-cant-I-access-my-homegroup Share libraries with your homegroup http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Share-libraries-with-your-homegroupNiki Han TechNet Community Support
