Windows 7 Homegroup
I set up a Homegroup with 2 Windows 7 Ulimate computers. The Homegroup works fine, but now each computer wants to open a text file with the Interface List, IPv4 Route Table and IPv6 Route Table at startup. The text file is the same name as the computer name. I have searched the Start list in msconfig, the Scheduled Tasks list and the Events Log and cannot find what is causing these text files on startup. I found one other user with this problem when doing a Google search, but the resolution had to do with some program that I do not have. Has anyone else encountered this and what is the solution? Thanks.

What if you find these text files and rename them to something else, as a test?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I had to restart one of my computers to get the file again. I opened it in Wordpad then did a Save As. I then closed Wordpad and went to Windows Explorer and found the file which I had saved as "Netbook.txt" I changed it to Test.txt and it still opened in Wordpad with no problem. I'm not sure what you are trying to test. Thanks.

I'm trying to test that if you change the name of these text files to something else can you reboot the machine and not have it open automatically? Perhaps you get an error message that gives a clue as to what is trying to open them? Or maybe the problem just quietly goes away.-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I restarted the computer again and opened the file in Word this time where I was able to look at its properties and find out where is resided on the hard drive. It was at C:\User\file name. I deleted it and rebooted and it did not try to open again. I was under the assumption that the file was being created each time I booted up, but it was just sitting there with a date which I am pretty sure was the date I installed Windows 7. Problem solved! Thanks for your suggestion of finding it on the hard drive.
