Windows 7 Home premium Unidentified Network - cannot access the default gateway
I have HP G 72 laptop wirelessly getting on to the internet using Netgear Router and Time Warner modem. I see on the taskbar Network Icon that my network connection is connected but my network is not able to access the internet. When I click on my Network profile , Network troubleshooter points out that my default gateway is not accessible and also the Network name changes to unidentified Network and not able to delete it nor do anything about it. I have updated the network adapter driver and they are uptodate. My TCP/IP v6 and v4 are set to connect or automatically obtain their IP nos. I do not have Bonjour or any alphanumeric strings under Services. I have also disabled most of the software like Adobe and Real player etc on bootup.ini folder. Any suggestions welcome. Also from my desktop from which I am sending this note is working perfectly with the same router and modem.Any suggestions welcome

Have you done ipconfig to check your ip address?.. you may of been assigned an apipa address (169.254.x.x) if that's the case assign yourself a static ip and see if that works.

Hello First we need to see what is the ip we are getting and are we able to ping the DG or not. For that · Open the cmd prompt · Type ipconfig, What is the ip you are getting? · Ping the Default gateway, what is the response? · If you get a reply from the default gateway, ping your DNS server. · If you get a reply from the DNS server, then ping any website · If you can any reply from the website and still you are not able to go online then it is a browser issue, try a different browser.
