Windows 7 HP: Internet doesn't work, no prob with Ping and Windows Update
Hi there, I've got a Windows 7 HP 64-Bit machine in front of me, which is part of a home network. After the Windows installation everything was fine, but now, the Internet is somewhat broke. I can ping every internet-domain and every pc within the network, Windows Update and Remote Desktop work, too. But neither IE nor Firefox get to open a website. What I tried: - flushing dns-cache (ipconfig /flushdns) - rebuilding TCPIPstack (netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt) - reinstalling network driver Any idea what I can do besides reinstalling the whole system? Regards, Nic

Hi, Are you using a proxy server? Check your firewall as well. Firewall is probably blocking the appllication. Regards. Note: Post your pc specs.

Hi, If it works when you boot the computer to Safe Mode with networking, please also boot the system to clean boot environment to check the issue: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
