Windows 7 Folder Redirection
As part of our migration to Windows 7 we have enabled folder redirection for our existing Windows 2000 and Windows XP users uisng a single Group policy applying to a security group. Each user is added to the security group prior to having their machines migrated (1 week before). All folders redirected (My Documents, Appdata, Pictures, Music and Video) are redirected fine. Once the users machine has been upgraded the user account is moved to a new OU whereby another folder redirection policy redirects the rest of the Windows 7 foders to tha same location. The problem occurs where two My Documents folders are now created and the users My Documents point to the newly created one and not the previsously 2000 or XP redirected folder. Also noticed is that the standard Windows 7 "Documents" redirected folder is not created. Under the two policies we have thwe following settings 2000 and XP Policy Redirect MyDocuments to \\Fileserver\UserData\%username%\My Documents Windows 7 Policy Redirect Documents to \\Fileserver\UserData\%username%\Documents All help is appreciated Adrian

Hi, To resolve this issue, please change the policy for Windows 7 clients to redirect My Documents to \\Fileserver\UserData\%username%\My Documents. If it does not work, please do not apply the policy yet and manually redirect to \\Fileserver\UserData\%username%\My Documents, check if the redirection works properly. Sorry for late reply Arthur. We did get over the issue by redirecting to the same foldera and not letting the new policy create a different structure. Many thanks AdrianAdrian Burns
