Windows 7 Fix by Update Gets Error 0x80070490
I have been having a number of problems with my installation of Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit. Finally having battled with the beast for about a week I have decided to try an Update install from the W7 DVD. The DVD boots fine and I can select Install Now, the pc starts loading files, but comes back with 0x80070490 and tells me that there is insufficient room on the hard disks. Sorry that I did not write down the exact amout required, something like 514M, but the system disk has 57G free and the D: has 644G free. Following the threads encouraged me to follow KB947821, which I have installed. No difference..... Any ideas? John.

Hi, Windows Setup cannot find a location to store temporary installation files. to install Windows, make sure that a partition on your boot disk has at least 655 megabytes (MB) of free space. Error code: 0x80070490 Please copy all the files on Windows 7 Installation Disk to a partition, then perform setup again.
