Windows 7 Enterprise client not able to access network shares.
We are having some issues with *one* client in our network. This is a Windows 7 X86 Enterprise laptop that just won't connect to any network shares. I ran the MSP tool on this client so I have the logs if anyone want's to take a look at them. Some interesting things in the logs are From NetDiag ========================= DC discovery test. . . . . . . . . : Passed ============================ Here the client lists both domain controllers available in the subnet. A little further down in the logs however it lists ============================ DC list test . . . . . . . . . . . : Failed 'DOMAIN': No DCs are up. List of DCs in Domain 'DOMAIN': dc1.domain.com (this DC is down) dc2.domain.com (this DC is down) Trust relationship test. . . . . . : Failed Test to ensure DomainSid of domain 'DOMAIN' is correct. 'DOMAIN': No DCs are up (Cannot run test). Secure channel for domain 'DOMAIN' is to '\\dc2.domain.com'. Since 'dc1.domain.com' is down, it cannot be tested. Since 'dc2.domain.com' is down, it cannot be tested. ========================================= I'm sure the domain isn't down since 650 clients have no issues at all. There are also a s**tload of theese ========================================= Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 202: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #179 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes ========================================= 202 to be specific. I haven't tried disabling IPv6 yet but I will as soon as can get to the client computer. The client is able to browse internet and the connection to the Exchange server works, even if it asks for the password when the client opens outlook. So network connectivity isn't down either, I even used TeamViewer to access the client and collect the data from it. This makes me think the problem might be that the client OS doesn't send the TGT properly to servers. But it might just not get there due to network trouble. Workstation, Server and Computer Browser services are running normally. I disabled the local antivirus / firewall to check that it didn't block anything and still nothing. If anyone has any ideas where to continue hunting the root problem for this I'd be really happy. MCITP Server Administrator Blog: http://www.nixadmins.net

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. According to your description, I suggest to perform these steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1 Login with Clean Boot or Safe Mode with networking to see whether the same issue occurs. 2 Turn on “network discovery” and “File and printer sharing” within Network and Sharing Center. 3 Check the NETBIOS of TCP/IP is enable or not. 4 Try to access network shares by using \\servername\sharefolder or \\ipaddress\sharefolder 5 Disable UAC on this PC. 6 Get out of the domain and re-join for test. Hope it helps. Regards, Leo Huang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Hi Leo, I tried all above and no go. I can't access network shares from safe mode. Also even when I remove the computer from the domain it still won't access shares. Normally when trying to access shares from a workstation not in the domain it will ask for credentials. This one won't. Nothing just can't access the share. No matter if it's IP, Hostname or DFS share. It's like the whole share information would have been removed from the computer. There is no active firewall on it. Is there a way to reinstall the Microsoft file and printer sharing on the computer.MCITP Server Administrator Blog: http://www.nixadmins.net

It was the 6to4 adapters that messed up the system. If someone else runs into similar problems sollution can found at http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/07c46785-cd1b-42c9-aa94-0adf1f4e2516MCITP Server Administrator Blog: http://www.nixadmins.net
