Windows 7 Enterprise RTM domain users cannot see network printers
I am testing a win7 deployment with win7 enterprise connecting to our windows 2008 server domain. When i login as a domain admin i get access to the printers im assigned in A/D. When I login as a domain user the domain user account does not pull down its printer rights from the domain. I cannot manually connect to them when i go through the directory wizard in devices and printers either.Any thoughts?

Have you checked the sharing permissions in the Windows 2008 Server? Please share this printer to domain accounts including admin and non-admin accounts. If the issue still occurs when permission settings are correct, please let us know if file sharing works properly. Also, please let us know the model of the printer.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Thanks Arthur. Sorry about my slow reply.I have checked the permissions and they are setup to allow domain users to read the printer share via a GPO. In the domain user account on a win7 machine gpresult shows that the policy for the printer i want is applying ok but still no printer appears in the list. If i login with an account that has domain admin rights to the printer share the printers come down fine. Our other machines in our SOE are vista machines and the policy works fine with domain users on vista.Another observation I have made is that I cannot manually connect to the printers via the add printers wizard. I get a "Windows cannot connect to the printer" error with operation failed code 0x0000007e.The printers are Canon IR 3080i and Canon IR 4080i printers with PCL5c drivers.Because I cannot manually connect to the printers either I am hesitant to blame the GPO that manages printer deployment. Where would you suggest I look to troubleshoot further? Thanks!

I am experiencing a similiar problem, although not via GPO. When connecting a printer via point and print I am getting the 0x0000007e error using 64 bit drivers for a canon iR C5158 PCL5 shared on a Win2008 64bit platform. Its only windows 7 that is presenting this error, and even on my machine (im a domain admin) im getting it with UAC on or off. We are about to rollout Win 7 to most PC's and will cause an issue with this printer, 10 other printers Canon/HP work no problems across Win7 32/64bit platforms off the same server. I am also getting the same error in out testing environment same win2008 64bit and win 7. I have also tried severel versions of canon drivers including 8.70 (current WHQL for win7). Any help would be great.
