Windows 7 Display Settings Always Revert On Startup
To whom it may concern: I have 2 monitors connected to a Dell Optiplex 980. I have a monitor right in front of me, then I have a secondary monitor to my right. My intention is to have the monitor right in front of me be the "main" monitor, with the start menu, icons, etc. When I load the computer, everything always looks fine and both monitors look fine. Except, every time I load the computer, the center monitor then goes off and the right monitor becomes the only active one, with the start menu, icons, etc. Then I have to load my control panel, extend my desktop, and make the center monitor the main monitor. Every time. This is really, really frustrating and it is not a problem I ever experienced with Windows XP. Could you please let me know what I should do? I have tried all of the suggestions recommended here already, and none seem to work: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/4b5c5b41-e0da-43ef-b9af-8b8f305dda86/ Please help! Hi, Since the display settings are getting reverting back to defaults after restart, out first area of concern would be display adapter. I would recommend that you could uninstall the display drivers, download the latest drivers from manufacturer’s website and then install them. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click the Start button, in the start search box, type in devmgmt.msc and press enter. 2. In the Device Manager window, expand “display adapters” and select your display adapter. 3. Right click on the display card and click uninstall. 4. Click the OK button. 5. Download the display drivers from manufacturer’s website. 6. Install the driver. 7. Restart the computer. Article that you may refer: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly Get back to us with the results.
