Windows 7 DNS partial problem
Hi, 1. Please clear all the proxy related settings. 2. Make a full scan on your computer with Anti-virus software to make sure that the computer have not been infected. 3. Reset TCP/IP or Winsock for a test. 4. Use Network Monitor to capture the package during ping or browsing via IE.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hello, I've got a problem that was driving me mad for quite a long time. It's about my weird situation with the internet connection I have on my system. It's weird, because some applications work fine, some doesn't. But let's start with the beginning of the story. Once my Windows 7 was working perfect. But then I wanted to try something about proxy, I just wanted to connect to some public SOCKS4/5 host, just to try it out. OK, but I needed a proxy client. I had problems with tunnelling connection for one app, so I was searching for a proxy which would work for it. Unfortunately, I tried one that was badly infected. On the bright side, the infection was detected during the installation process, so I cancelled it (Windows allowed to block the installation in spite of what installer did). But some changes were already made in the system, and so my little hell begun. It turned out that I couldn't use internet at all, but managed to fix it a bit with flushing dns and some other methods. The problem is, it didn't solve ALL the problems. Some applications work since then (Firefox, nslookup, Minecraft, Steam, HL2), but many don't (Chrome, IE, ping [!], Toribash, Steam browser). I only know that the problem is based on adress dissolving error, because I can't ping adress google.com, but I can ping adress 74.125.39.106 (which is google.com's IP). The same goes with loading pages google.com and 74.125.39.106 in Chrome - first fails, second works. I've already posted this problem on another forum. We did there several scans, recognitions, fixes, but nothing worked. Anyway, it can be found here: http://forums.techguy.org/networking/1021150-windows-7-advanced-dns-problem.html This surely isn't problem with other devices, because I connect using a wireless switch+router in my house. It's not the only device using it, the other ones have no problems with it. Changing type of connection (from WLAN to wired RJ-45-and-so, and also mobile internet) didn't have any influence on this issue. PS I know it would be helpful to tell you, what the problematic proxy software it was, but since it was about a year ago I don't remember. And that's one of my greatest problems.
