Windows 7 Crashes when renaming files
Now before you refer me to the numerous other threads, let me tell you that I have read them over and googled this issue endlessly and have still not found any other issue matching mine exactly.
Heres how the story goes:
My boss is a busy man and often does not shut down his computer properly (just puts it in sleep mode by shutting the lid). (And yes, I have told him off for this and this is probably the cause of the problem, but he is adamant that its not his fault and that I should just fix it for him) - However, he is on the move alot so sleep mode is understandable.
Whenever he goes to rename a file, explorer crashes for a good 2-3 minutes, and if he doesnt move for that time, the file will eventually rename and end up exactly how he intended. Seems to happen when creating new folders, etc. This crashing happens to him ALL the time, and he is now more than a little irritated about it. I'm not sure if this happens when he shuts down properly, but for arguments sake, lets say it does, because he is always complaining about it and I know that he does start up/shut down properly sometimes.
Is there a fix for this, is it a bug, is it totally his fault, or is there a way to work around the issue? Any help is REALLY appreciated, I'm at a loss.Jessie Holloway

Hi,This issue should have something to do with the display card driver as you mention the sleep mode a lot. To me, the crash seems like a slightly screen crash. Better uninstall the display card driver, download the latest driver, restart the computer to check the result. To troubleshoot and confirm the issue, boot into safe mode. If the issue disappears, probably the display card driver is corrupted. If the issue persists, it might be a faulty hardware issue.
