Windows 7 Crash
Hi, after last windows update my laptop started to crash for no reason. 1st time i was running only messenger and firefox (facebook website). 2nd time i was only listenning music. Now its happenning like 2-3 times a day. Ive done a fresh Install on my desktop with same dvd, and ive done all the updates from windows update. Yesterday it crashed 2 or 3 times... today it happened 3 times already. And again I was doing nothing special, msn, firefox and playing a non-online game. Any tips to solve this situation? If u need any further information feel free to ask. TY in advance. Regards, Fernando

Trying to diagnose a crash with zero information is impossible. You need to find event log entries, crash dumps, etc. that are pertinent to the problem, and start to develop an idea of why it's crashing.-Noel

Trying to diagnose a crash with zero information is impossible. You need to find event log entries, crash dumps, etc. that are pertinent to the problem, and start to develop an idea of why it's crashing. -Noel Like i said in my 1st post, any information that u may need just ask, because it was the 1st time this kind of situation happened to me and I didn't know where to look. I've also said that in event viewer I only get the " The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: vflt " error and some warnings that computer had a unknown shutdown (this is me doing a reset, only thing I can do when the pc crashes). So I guess this is not zero information but ok. Regarding my problem, I read somewhere else that this problem could be caused by over heating on the video card (since most of the last crashes where while I was playing or watching movies), so I've opened my pc and cleaned the dust, and also reinstalled the nvidia drivers. Ill see if that solves the problem And again Ty for tips and help.

"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/ I don't get the BSOD. The image just freezes and nothing happens. I need to reset to be able to do anything. About the dumps, i can't find them, searched entire hard drive. But i've upload the log from event viewer if that helps. link-> http://feupload.fe.up.pt/get/F7iaWplzNM8izIy

boot clean (safe mode) and testlockups are in most cases hardware (driver)if you did a reinstall over the current windows that may not be the right way. you need to do clean install of win 7 without adding any games and NOT doing any facebooking..you do know that ONLY reason for facebook is to send you infected links right... facebook speads more infections in 24 than a 1,000 hookers can in year.

Hi, I would like to suggest you test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot first. If it only works fine in Safe Mode, you may perform a Device Clean Boot to narrow down the possible cause. Device Clean Boot ============== Please unplug all unnecessary devices to test your computer's performance. In this situation, your system will only have the basic hardware devices and it should be more stable. If it is inconvenient to unplug the devices, we can disable them in Device Manager. Please refer to the following steps: 1. Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" in the Search textbox and press Enter. Please click “Allow” if the User Account Control window is prompted. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your Sound Card, select "Properties" 4. Click "Driver" tab, click Disable (Disable the selected device). Click OK. 5. Please use the same method to disable other hardware such as: Modem, network card, CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. Then, restart your computer. Does it still crash now? If the system is stable, we can re-enable the devices one by one to narrow down the root cause. If it also works normally in Clean Boot, you may perform Step 2 to Step 7 to narrow down the possible cause. Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

Hi, FEUP firewall is the VPN name of my Faculty, but i noticed that error and uninstalled the software related to VPN (trying to get the last version of it). Ill try the clean boot as Arthur_Li suggested. And then Ill give some feedback. TY all. Regards, Fernando

Hi again, I've done the clean boot and still my pc crashed. I decided to do a new install and everything was fine until I installed my video card drivers. I went back to Vista until nvidia launch a new driver. Once Again Ty for the help.
