Windows 7 Copy or Move issue
Hi, When ever i try to copy some files from 1 destination to another drive and if the same files exists in the destination and the drive is low on space (but enough if it overwrites the existing) windows 7 does not copy or move it just says not enough space for example if my drive is of 8 gb capacity and has a 1.2 gb file named "abc" already there and if i try to copy 7 gb of data which also has an updated file "abc" (with the same file name) it does not overwrite the existing file it just says not enough space, i have to delete the existing file and do the copy is there any solution to this Tks

do you have shadow copy activated on the drive? shadow copy would try to save the difference between the two file versions, and as such use up space (depending on how much the difference between the files is, it might explain the lack of space for the copy)

Copy or move, first copies the file to the new location before wiping out the existing one. There is no "over write" in any version of Windows that I'm aware of. Makes sense really. What happens if the copy/move fails for some other reason?Rich The only two things that are infinite in size are the universe, and human stupidity.
