Windows 7 Chess Titan
I've seen several other topics on Chess Titans for Windows. Is there any work being done with this program? I find it to be either entirely too easy or it jumps to being hard. There doesn't seem to be a medium level that I could use to help advancing newer chess players that are getting too good for easy levels. I see that there are other chess programs if one sifts through the (possibly dangerous) choices on the internet, but my concern is that this 'introduction' chases new players away from chess entirely. Could Chess Titans benefit from a tweaking of the underlying engine, perhaps?

I find it to be either entirely too easy or it jumps to being hard. There doesn't seem to be a medium level that I could use to help advancing newer chess players that are getting too good for easy levels. You can adjust the difficulty level, sound and animation settings of Chess Titans. Open the Games folder by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type games, and then, in the list of results, click Games Explorer. Double-click Chess Titans. Click the Game menu, and then click Options. Make your choices, and then click OK.

Thanks. That is how to change the level itself. I'll clarify what the issue that I perceive as being. You start on level 1, the easiest, and you see 10 levels of difficulty. A chess student then moves to level 2 and is confronted with an extreme increase in difficulty, rather than being presented with what might be considered 'medium' or 'medium easy'. To attempt an analogy, it's like taking a beginning runner that wins a 200 yard run against normal joggers and expecting his next race to be a half-marathon. It's too big a step and the beginner quits the field rather than continues in it. It's not a mark against the participant, but more of a setup to fail anyone expecting something reasonable. I believe the chess program could be better polished in its decision engine and difficulty rating.
