Windows 7 Can't Find Network Drivers
My HP Pavilion a1420n was connected to the Internet; I powered it down for the night and, the next day, I discover that the Ethernet, Network, and PCI Simple Communications controllers - along with the VIA1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller - are no longer working. The PCI bus driver is in place but when I try to reinstall the drivers, Win7 comes back and tells me it can't find drivers - and the drivers are on the hard drive and in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. The motherboard is an HP Asterope2-GLBE LGA775 800FSB board, ECSRC410-M (V1.1) and I uncovered the following hardware IDs: PCI SCC: PCI\VEN_11C0&DEV_0620&SUBSYS_062011CC&REV_08 Network: PCI\VEN_1434&DEV_0318&SUBSYS_00421737&REV_02 Ethernet: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_0139&SUBSYS_0A47103C&REV_10 Is this some sort of Win7 failure or do you think the motherboard has failed? I'm having a hard time believing that the PCI bus has failed - Win7 says it's working fine - and I need some help figuring this out. I've tried getting new drivers and they appear to install properly - but no joy; it's as if Win7 doesn't see the drivers or knows that they've been installed. In case I don't make it back here, my email address is: khaan23@hotmail.com if anyone has some answers. I also did src /scannow and there are no errors reported in the system files and as far as I can tell, the computer itself is fine - except no network controllers!
